1. Removing Cutting Blades and Spacers

Ensure Safety First

  • Power Down: Turn off the machine and disconnect the power supply to ensure a safe working environment.
  • PPE: Wear the necessary personal protective equipment, including gloves and safety glasses.

Accessing and Removing Components

  • Open Guards: Begin by opening the machine guards to access the slitting axis.
  • Secure Axis: Prevent accidental movement by securing the slitting axis.
  • Remove Blades/Spacers: Loosen the locking nuts with a wrench and carefully slide out the cutting blades or spacers. Safely store these components in an organized manner.

Handling the Tension Station

  • Repeat Process: Apply the same steps to the tension station, loosening and removing spacers as needed.

2. Installing New Cutting Blades and Spacers

Preparation

  • Check Components: Gather the replacement cutting blades and spacers, inspecting them for any defects before installation.

Installing New Blades and Spacers in slitting line

  • Blade Installation: Slide the new cutting blade onto the slitting axis, ensuring it is properly seated and aligned.
  • Spacer Installation: Place the new spacers on the slitting axis in the correct sequence. Make sure each spacer is flush and properly positioned.
  • Tighten Nuts: Hand-tighten the nuts initially, then use a torque wrench to secure them to the specified torque.

Handling the Tension Station

  • Install New Spacers: Slide the replacement spacer onto the tension station, aligning it with the existing components.
  • Secure Spacers: Tighten the locking nuts or bolts by hand, then use the appropriate tools to ensure they are securely fastened.

3. Adjusting the Slitting Axis

Motorized Adjustments:

  • Engage the Motor: Activate the motorized system to adjust the slitting axis.
  • Use Control Panel: Utilize the control panel to make precise adjustments, ensuring smooth and accurate movement to the desired position.
  • Monitor Alignment: Carefully monitor the alignment and stop the motor once the correct position is reached.

4. Final Checks and Securing Components

Verify Alignment and Seating

  • Final Inspection: Check that all components are properly seated and aligned on both the slitting axis and tension station.

Securing with Nuts

  • Torque Nuts: Use a torque wrench to tighten all nuts to their specified torque settings. Double-check each nut to ensure they are securely locked down.

Reassemble and Test

  • Close Guards: Reassemble any machine guards or covers that were opened during the process.
  • Power Up: Restore power to the machine and conduct a test run to confirm everything is operating correctly.
